Cumulus welcomes our new CAD technician Ulrike

19 Jan 2022

Ulrike joins our Launceston team as a Computer-aided design (CAD) technician, bringing to our studio an added passion for sustainable design and distinct knowledge as an aeronautical engineer.

With a varied professional background, Ulrike has lived and worked in Europe, Japan, New Zealand, USA, and Canada before ultimately landing in Tasmania where she took on roles in engineering and drafting servicing firms.

After landing in Launceston, Ulrike’s keen interest in the built environment’s interaction with the natural ecosystem, sustainable town planning, and material use, led to a passing conversation with one of Cumulus’ senior architects. Shortly after, Ulrike joined our team and has since become an integral part of our studio. Her collaboration with our designers and architects has been complemented by her work with Cumulus’ Environmental Management Systems (EMS) team — focusing on research, planning, material assessment, and the continued reduction of our studio’s overall environmental impact.

Inspired by Japanese minimalist design and an intentionally simple living philosophy, Ulrike is also focused on promoting high density dwellings, a smart use of space, that help maintain the surrounding natural landscape and ecosystems.

Outside of Cumulus, Ulrike spends her time outdoors rock-climbing, bush running, and, at times, helping out on habitat surveys with prominent Tasmanian environmentalists.

We’re pleased to have Ulrike as part of our team, welcome!
