A hiking hut, refined.
Our clients for this West Hobart renovation have a deep connection to hiking in the Tasmanian wilderness, finding particular joy in their multi-night stays in rustic hiking huts. In turn, our vision for this renovation project sought to blend the enduring appeal of hiking hut aesthetics with a refined touch, creating a unique living space that marries the old with the new.
Outdoors at home.
A large clerestory window and glass sliders were introduced to the new extension to open the existing house up to the landscape, and make the most of the site orientation, softening the barriers between inside and out.
“Cumulus was able to take our ideas for a home renovation, and formulate a clear vision, articulating the connection between the interior and the outdoors, and creating a space that we really love to be in. Working with Cumulus was harmonious and professional. We felt that we were on the same wavelength, and that we could freely explore ideas together. We’re very grateful to call this space our home. It’s relaxing, a refuge, and a beautiful space that we just want to enjoy.”
To elevate the interior design, soft linen curtains gently diffuse natural light, and create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. Terracotta and natural stone tiles, and brass tapware further balance the home's beautiful juxtaposition of rugged practicality and refined aesthetics.
