A hiking hut, refined.
Our clients for this West Hobart renovation have a deep connection to hiking in the Tasmanian wilderness, finding particular joy in their multi-night stays in rustic hiking huts. In turn, our vision for this project sought to blend the enduring appeal of hiking hut aesthetics with a refined touch, creating a unique living space that marries the old with the new.

A large clerestory window and glass sliders were introduced to the new extension to open the existing house up to the landscape, and make the most of the site orientation, softening the barriers between inside and out.
To elevate the design, soft linen curtains gently diffuse natural light, and create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. Terracotta and natural stone tiles, and brass tapware further balance the home's beautiful juxtaposition of rugged practicality and refined aesthetics.
